CD release of JJ reading 'A Cure for Gravity'   PDF  Print  E-mail

Thursday, 01 July 2004

Joe Jackson and Heinz Rudolf Kunze reading live from:
»A Cure for Gravity« »Ein Mittel gegen die Schwerkraft«

That evening, as the highlight of Goettingen's 12th Festival of Literature, Jackson was eagerly anticipated on the stage of the Deutsches Theater. For the first time ever, he had come to read to a large German audience to read from his autobiography "A Cure for Gravity. A Musical Pilgrimage", published in German by the Goettingen publisher Satzwerk. His German colleague, Heinz Rudolf Kunze, took turns reading from the translation as Jackson read from the original.

"In a presentation entirely void of glamour, delivered in that same offbeat voice so familiar from his albums, the audience was treated to the sharp, witty, and supremely articulate memories and ruminations of a musician whose personal destiny followed the revolutions and retro waves of popular music of the past half century - even if they themselves did not seamlessly converge with the same." From 'Süddeutsche Zeitung'
